The Minor 9 ChordĀ is created by adding both the dominant note and the second scale degree. To make any chord dominant, you add a flattened seventh to it. For example, C Minor becomes C minor 7 when you add Bb, the flat seventh. To form a minor 9, you also add the second note of the scale, also known as the 9th in the context of the dominant.Ā  Ā 

This chord is used in all styles of Gospel / Christian Music. Most often, you will plan the Minor 9 chord on the (2) and the (6) of the progression.
